New online training program helps businesses address skills gaps and drive productivity

Business leaders and government representatives frequently demand more innovative, cost-effective training to help meet the need for skilled staff. In the resources, energy, infrastructure, manufacturing, financial and public services industries, highly capable project management staff are essential to ensure that forecast capital and operational projects move smoothly from the planning phase through to delivery.

Responding to this call, Prescience Technology, a leading Oracle consultancy, has launched an interactive, online training program for Oracle Primavera – project management software that has long been recognised as best of breed and is widely used to plan, build and implement significant capital investment and operational projects across a range of sectors.

Knowledge Builder for Primavera P6 Release 8.2 teaches planners, schedulers, project managers and engineers how to use the latest release of this software without leaving their desk. It is the first truly online training program for Primavera to be delivered via the Cloud, so users can undertake training anywhere, anytime.

“With companies needing to do more with less, it’s more important than ever for management to have real control over their project investment and performance, no matter the industry,” said Loretta Bayliss, Managing Director, Prescience Technology.

“By ensuring that their planners, schedulers, project managers and engineers can actually use the software, including the new features available in Release 8.2, to drive clear project outcomes and avoid unnecessary delays, they can ensure the return on investment they expect,” she added.

Ms Bayliss says the training courses also help to drive productivity across the organisation by ensuring that employees can consistently and confidently plan projects and avoid delays by using the technology that the company has invested in. The training also creates a common foundation from which to constantly improve.
The training solution also offers other benefits: “With the high turnover in some industries such as mining, companies regularly need to train up new employees, however they often have to wait for a course to be scheduled, Ms Bayliss explained. “Knowledge Builder for Primavera is available on demand – anywhere, any time it suits the business and the employee. It is also more cost effective, as employees don’t have to spend days away from their job attending a course nor travelling to the course.”
Prescience developed the courses, which cater for different levels of expertise from novice to advanced, in conjunction with experienced users, so they deliver the practical knowledge that project managers, engineers, schedulers and planners need to do their jobs. The courses utilise various industry-based scenarios and examples and can be customised to individual businesses if required.

“In addition,” Ms Bayliss says, “the training has been developed with eLearning experts, to increase the likelihood that employees develop and retain the skills they need. We’ve applied industry best practice by using ‘See It, Try It’ functionality and the assessment that is part of the Adobe Captivate 6 offering, which makes this a truly interactive and effective online learning solution.”

The training offers a fast time to proficiency, with the Fundamentals course taking just over half a day. It is also cost-effective, with courses starting from just $99. You can find out more about the training by visiting training.prescience.com.au
